summer dreaming:

every year, when the scorching florida summer rolls around, my husband and i dream of a day when we can pack up dogs and kids and drive to our own little cabin in the mountains. if i had a cabin, i would want it to feel something like this. if you could run away for the summer, where would you go?

  1. ok, I've been thinking about this for a bit....

I think if I could get a summertime getaway, I'd head to Cuba. Oh, wait. I am headed there soon. (fingers crossed).

when I saw this ( http://www.designspongeonline.com/2010/05/living-in-frida.html ) post on Design Sponge this week, I couldn't help but want to be there too. Except replace Mexico City for Havana or Santa Clara.

Wearing a uniform of thin embroidered cotton. Riding bikes along the Melecon. Watching children play beisbol on the street. Reading poetry in a hammock in the lush tropical farmland. The air smelling like a mixture of tabacco, coffee and guava. Sounds pretty perfect to me. Must be my Cuban soul.

    Here's to hoping.

  2. I'd be in the cabin half a mile up the river (or down, whichever). You know, the property that would connect to yours by a little footpath where our little ones would meet halfway and create adventures for themselves?
